Jaflong Opens in Ham
Mr. Syed opens Jaflong Tandoori on Ham Street, bringing authentic Sylheti cooking to Richmond for the first time.
First Ham Fair Partnership
Jaflong becomes an annual stall holder at Ham Fair, serving 1,000+ visitors every June — a partnership that continues to this day.
School Fundraiser Programme

Sylhet Aid Initiative

The Man Behind The Mission
Mr. Syed's Journey
From a young waiter in Kingston to the founder of Richmond's most community-minded restaurant — Mr. Syed's 40-year career in hospitality has always been driven by one principle: food is how you show love.
Born in Sylhet, Bangladesh, he brought his family's recipes, his work ethic, and his belief that a restaurant should serve its community — not just its customers.
