Indian Restaurant Twickenham

Jaflong Tandoori is not a franchise or a rebrand. It is run day to day by founder Syed Bashar, whose hospitality journey began in the 1980s and who has run and revived a series of Indian restaurants across London — most notably Sheesh Mahal, where he built his reputation for authentic tandoor cooking and warm, unhurried service.

He opened Jaflong Tandoori in Ham in 2008 with one idea: bring the same standards people expected from his previous restaurants to the neighbourhoods of Richmond, Twickenham and Kingston, at a price a family can afford every week rather than on birthdays. Eighteen years on, he still answers the phone, still checks the tandoor, and still signs off the orders heading across the bridge to TW1.

From Twickenham town centre the drive crosses to the Ham side of the borough — via Kingston Bridge and Kingston Road or down through Teddington — finishing on Ashburnham Road in Ham village. Around ten to fifteen minutes in normal traffic; allow a little more on match days, when our 12pm opening for event crowds makes collection before kick-off a popular plan.

Free parking sits directly outside, the entrance is step-free, and the dining room seats 20–24 from 4pm every day. The restaurant is BYOB with no corkage and no service charge, which makes it a practical sit-down alternative for Twickenham groups who want a proper evening without a Church Street bill. Parties larger than nine should telephone first so we can set the room.

We deliver across the whole Twickenham area: the town centre, Church Street and London Road; the Riverside and Twickenham Green; St Margarets village and the Richmond border; Whitton, Whitton Dean and Hounslow Road; Strawberry Hill and the station roads; and the TW7 stretches of Isleworth and St Margarets Road. Most TW1 addresses are 25–35 minutes from our kitchen; TW2, TW3 and the TW7 edge are usually 30–40.

Orders travelling this far are packed for the journey: curries finished slightly thicker so they hold heat, rice and breads bagged separately from the sauces, and tandoori items rested before boxing so they do not steam in transit.

On Twickenham Stadium event days we open at 12pm and plan the kitchen around kick-off and final-whistle times. Collection before the match is the local's trick: order ahead, pick up on the way, and eat properly instead of queueing in the town. After the final whistle, we take pre-booked delivery times for TW1, TW2 and TW3 postcodes so your food lands when you do.

Regular Friday and Saturday evenings follow the same logic — book a delivery time earlier in the day and we cook backwards from the hour you name, rather than simply queueing your order when the tandoor is at its busiest.

Twickenham's ordering week is predictable: quiet early, building from Thursday, busiest when the trains run late or a stadium weekend lands. The offices and studios along London Road and Heath Road order weekday lunches with a fixed delivery window; the households of St Margarets and Whitton order family trays on Sundays.

Twickenham's church halls, sports clubs and school associations run a full calendar, and those events need food that arrives hot, in the right quantity, at an agreed time. Our catering starts at £18 per person for drop-off buffets, with hot-tray, biryani and tandoori platter packages above that, and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free cover planned into the quote.

We also handle smaller private occasions — birthdays, christenings, wakes and house parties — where a single delivery of finished food is simpler than hiring a kitchen team, and we keep repeat-booking details on file for clubs and community groups who want one call to rebook.
