Jaflong Tandoori has been run by the same family since 2008. No head office, no chain playbook — just our own family in the kitchen and on the floor, six evenings of prep a week, grinding spices fresh and baking every naan to order in the tandoor.
Being "the best Indian in Richmond" isn't something we think you can claim once and keep. It's earned again on every plate, so we keep tasting, tweaking recipes, retraining the pass and reading every review — the critical ones most of all. Eighteen years in, we still cook as if the table is family, because most weeks it genuinely is: the same regulars, the same names, the same order-without-looking-at-the-menu.
Meat comes from trusted halal suppliers, rice is Laila gluten-free basmati, and nothing leaves the kitchen unless it is good enough for our own dinner table. That standard is the whole job, and we intend to keep raising it.
"After 18 years, this restaurant is more than a business — it's family, and we're still trying to do better than last night."
Rated 4.9/5 across 5,700+ customer reviews on Google, TripAdvisor and the major delivery platforms.
Curry restaurant in Richmond upon Thames
Jaflong Tandoori has cooked for Richmond upon Thames since 2008 from 16 Ashburnham Road, Richmond upon Thames TW10 7NF. We are the most-reviewed Indian restaurant in the borough — 4.9★ from 4.9★ from 5,700+ reviews across 5 platforms reviews across five platforms, including 4.7★ from 425 Google reviews — and a Just Eat Local Legend for Richmond.
It is a proper curry house rather than a delivery-only kitchen: Sylheti recipes, spices ground in-house each morning and a 500°C clay tandoor for the tikka, naan and mixed grills. Chicken and lamb come from trusted halal-certified suppliers, we never cook with pork, and there are more than 15 vegan and 30 gluten-free dishes on the menu.
Good Indian food in Richmond does not have to be expensive. Most people eat for £10–£20 a head, collection saves 10%, and delivery orders over £40 get £5 off — so a family curry night stays affordable without dropping to supermarket-sauce shortcuts. We open at 4pm every day, until 10:30pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and we are BYOB with no service charge.
We deliver across Richmond, Ham, Petersham, Kew, St Margarets, Twickenham, Teddington and Kingston, and the dining room on Ashburnham Road seats 20–24 for birthdays, work dinners and match-day tables.
Richmond, Kingston, Twickenham and Sheen
We cook everything to order at 16 Ashburnham Road in Ham, which sits between Richmond and Kingston upon Thames. That keeps Surbiton, New Malden, Norbiton, Twickenham, St Margarets and East Sheen inside the same freshness window as our Richmond deliveries — the same menu, the same 4.9★ standard from 4.9★ from 5,700+ reviews across 5 platforms reviews across five platforms, with mains from £10 to £16, 10% off collection and £5 off delivery orders over £40.
Twelve minutes from our kitchen over Kingston Bridge, so Surbiton, Berrylands and Tolworth orders arrive inside the 45–60 minute window. Collection from Ham takes about fifteen minutes and saves 10%.
Indian restaurant SurbitonNew Malden, Motspur Park and Coombe sit a short run down the A3 side of Kingston. Best curry searches here usually mean a proper tandoor and fresh-ground spice rather than a delivery-only kitchen — that is exactly what we cook.
Best curry New MaldenTen minutes from Ham. Free parking outside, BYOB with no corkage and no service charge, which is why about a third of our direct orders cross the bridge from Kingston.
Indian restaurant KingstonLate kitchen shifts at Kingston Hospital and the Tolworth side of the A3 order the most — we cook until 22:30 Sunday to Thursday and 23:00 on Friday and Saturday.
Indian restaurant NorbitonTen to fifteen minutes across the river bend, so Twickenham and Whitton usually land in 25-40 minutes. We open from 12:00 on stadium match days and take group bookings for the dining room.
Indian restaurant TwickenhamCrown Road, the station roads, Moor Mead and Marble Hill are one of our fastest zones at 25-35 minutes, with the Isleworth edge a little behind. Collection from Ham village takes about ten minutes by car and saves 10%.
Indian restaurant St MargaretsSheen Lane, Milestone Green, Christ Church Road and Palewell run together, typically 35-45 minutes. Every dish is cooked to order, so mild for the children and properly hot for the adults arrive on the same ticket.
Indian restaurant East SheenMortlake High Street, Mortlake Green and the riverside roads take 30-45 minutes, grouped with Sheen. Boat Race weekend platters are our busiest local booking — order a few days ahead and we will hold a slot.

Our guaranteeIn an age of dark kitchens and 15-minute curries, we still cook the way Sylheti grandmothers taught us. Every dish, fresh to order. Every spice, ground that morning. This is the difference Richmond comes back for — week after week, year after year.
Every naan, kebab and tandoori dish is fired in our traditional clay oven — the same way Sylheti chefs have cooked for generations.
We grind our masalas every morning from whole spices — cumin, cardamom, fennel, cloves. Never pre-mixed, never shortcuts.
Meat and poultry come from trusted halal suppliers we have used for years. Ask us any time and we will talk you through the sourcing.
Founded by Mr. Syed and run by the same family for 18 years. No chains, no franchises — just one kitchen, one obsession.
We don't cook for trends. We cook for the families who've been coming here since 2008, and the ones who'll be here in 2040.

“The Chicken Achanak is genuinely the best curry I've had in Richmond. Spices are fresh, the tandoor char is real, and the team remembered us on our second visit.”
“Ordered direct through their site — delivery in 35 minutes, food still piping hot. Lamb Shank Nihari was outstanding. Much better than the delivery apps.”
“Booked for a family birthday — 14 of us. Syed and the team looked after every detail. Halal was clearly labelled and our vegan guests had proper options, not an afterthought.”
“Been coming here for over a decade. Consistency is the story — same warmth, same standard. The King Prawn Bhuna is still my go-to after all these years.”
“Catered our office lunch for 30 people. Everything arrived on time, beautifully presented, and the biryani was the talk of the office for a week.”
“Genuinely lovely family-run place. Not the flashiest room, but the food and hospitality far outstrip the fancier spots down the road. Byob is a nice touch.”
